here goes the magical formula ;p :
6 oz soymilk + 1.5 TB cornstarch + microwave for 30 seconds + stir + microwave for 15-20 seconds + squeeze of lemon juice or splash of vinegar + 3 minutes = soy yogurt
sounds simple enough, and all ingredients should be found in a fairly well maintained vegan kitchen. hooray!
I also hear a lot of people are successful simply subbing silken tofu for soy yogurt.
just a quick pic while I'm here. a couple of those cappuccino mini cakes with sour cherry jam filling, sans cookies & cream frosting, since Chaz likes his better without it. [freak!]
powdered sugar it is, then, along with a few colorful thingies on top to make it more festive. the yellow thing on the left is supposed to be a heart, in case you can't tell. as in, "celine hearts her freak". ha!

cute cakes, celine! and IMHO, you can never have enough substitutes!
I could just wrap my arms around your neck and kiss you!!! Hooray for this substitute. I don't buy soy yogurt and feel so left out of recipes that call for them. :)
BTW, thanks for stopping by my blog. You've got some very tasty looking dishes here!
Ah thanks so much for this!!! :) I despair of finding plain soy yoghurt where I live (NZ) and this solves my problem <3 Now if only I could shower you with some of the awesome cupcakes I just made...!!!
The local megastore does not carry vanilla soy yogurt (although they do have three other flavors). Thanks for saving our vegan blondies in Lexington, Ky.
Thank you so much! The only vegan lava cake recipe that looks decent calls for it and they don't sell it anywhere in my hick-town!
